Any candidate in whom catarrhal signs or any abnormal sounds were detected in the lungs on clinical examination was declared to have clinically unhealthy lungs and was advised further investigation by X-ray, differential blood count, erythrocytic sedimentation rate, examination of sputum for acid-fast bacilli etc. at the Chest Department of the Medical College Hospital under the Professor of Medicine (Tuberculosis) or at the Tuberculosis Relief Association, Calcutta.
